You have done the work.
Your client is delighted.
It’s time to get paid.
You have submitted the invoice.
Nothings happens.
You are given a ‘valid’ reason why you haven’t been paid.
… They didn’t get the invoice.
… They start picking holes in your work.
… They are avoiding your calls and ignoring your emails.
The list can go on and on ..
When this happens to my new clients I get them to stand in front of a (imaginary) mirror.
This is what they see in the mirror.
… They see someone who does not pay their suppliers on time.
… They see someone who may not have a policy to pay late, nevertheless do not pay on time.
… They see someone who is not committed to paying on time as agreed.
Our environment reflects who we really are. We cannot expect our customers to pay on time, when we are not doing it ourselves..
My long standing clients – still have suppliers who let them down every now and then, although it is very rare.
But they still pay their suppliers on time.
Now how is that for integrity!
When you reflect integrity by honouring your commitments you will also attract people who do the same.
