The local priest decided to help the villagers evacuate.
The water levels were rising.
Few boats came by and asked the priest to get on board.
The priest refused to go.

More boats were offering to help the priest.
The priest said no. “I will not leave until all the villagers were evacuated. I am a man of god, and the almighty will take care of me” he said to the last boat.
Eventually the floodwater swept him away and the priest drowned.
When the priest reached the pearly gates, he asked God, “I put all my faith in you and why didn’t you save me?”
For which God replied, “I sent you ten boats and you turned them all down. What more were you looking for?”
