“A funny thing happens when you raise the bar. People find a way to get over it, once they realize it’s expected. Human beings can do amazing things – if they’re asked to” – John Powers
Some time ago, I was listening to an interview with Kriss Akabusi.
For those who are not familiar with Kriss, he is one of Britain’s most famous and adored athletes.
He is best known for taking gold for Great Britain in the anchor leg of the British 4 x 400m relay at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo.
In that interview, Kriss openly admitted that he was not the most gifted athletes of his era.
He knew that his fellow athletes were much more talented than he was.
So what made him a winner?
Kriss did not compare himself to other athletes. He knew that if he compared himself to others he wouldn’t even get out of bed to train.
All he focused on is himself. Each and every day he wanted to be better than the day before. That was his training mantra.
Kriss kept raising his own bar.
Us mere mortals don’t even know a bar exists.
Growth means raising the bar and getting over it.
At the Profit Hub we raise each other’s bar and challenge every one to grow beyond where they are now.
