Who accomplishes more?
A person with passion or a person with commitment?
Passion does not produce commitment!
Want proof? Simply look at the divorce rates! In any endeavour look at starters who don’t finish!
Passion can help
Passion can help when you start something. A business, project or an adventure. But passion is like a taking a drug. It’s great while it lasts but horrible when it subsides.
Commitment is boring
That is why there is less of it. We are conditioned to admire the passionate.Hollywood, TV and rest of the media have made sure of it. When you see a passionate person with success – what you don’t see – is the commitment that made that success happen.
But Commitment brings you closer to success
Commitment takes hard work. Commitment overcomes obstacles.Commitment is absolute. When committed – it will take as long as it takes and cost what it costs.Consistent commitment unleashes the power of exponential baby steps – and your success is guaranteed. The power of a small stream to erode a rock and the magic of small numbers to produce compound interest shows what can be achieved with commitment.
Passion can help you get started but only commitment can get the job finished.
Passion is like gravy. If you are hungry, gravy can’t get the job done. Commitment is the main course. One of the behaviours seen in a committed individual is relentlessness. Relentlessness helps to see past the obstacles that stand so menacingly in their way to get the job finished.
